  Repolling ordered in 4,164 seats so far
The Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday ordered re-poll in 60 polling stations in Bihar's Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency, from where Union Railway Minister and Janata Dal candidate Ram Vilas Paswan is contesting, following reports of booth capturing and poll irregularities. Re-polling will be held on Wednesday in polling booths in six assembly segments.
  US fears UN may have given away too much
US officials are suspicious that UN Secretary General Kofi Annan may have given away a little too much to Baghdad in brokering a deal which has averted American military action on Iraq. While cautiously welcoming the agreement, the Americans are particularly suspicious of some parts of the new accord which they feel could give Iraq wiggle room and create problems in the future.

Assam govt ready for cease-fire with ULFA
The Assam Government seems all set to draw up a Nagaland-type cease-fire with the outlawed United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA). This was evident from a press release issued by the Government.

Meghalaya may get coalition government
Meghalaya is heading towards a coalition government as no political party secured a simple majority in the 60-member Assembly. The Congress remains the single largest party with 25 seats at the end of counting today.
