The art of not forgetting
The blood on the streets may have been hosed clean by time. The Justice Srikrishna Commission Report on the Mumbai riots is late, coming as it does five years after those weeks of madness that saw 860 (official figure) people slaughtered on the streets of India's largest metropolis. Yet, it is a recognition, slight though it may be, that the State is accountable for its citizen's lives.

India's political lions, however, never hibernate. They bask in perpetual summer -- always ready to get up and go. Winter never touches them.
