Kapil Dev inspects controversial pitch
After a 80-day wait, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)'s pitch committee, led by Kapil Dev, visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium yesterday to investigate the causes of the abandoned one-day international between India and Sri Lanka here on December 25 last year. Kapil will submit his report to the Board within a week.

Simi finishes joint 12th in US tournament
Simi Mehra continued her fine show at the Ladies Professional Golfers Association (LPGA) Tour, when she finished a creditable joint 12th at the $ 500,000 Welch's Circle K Championship at the Randolph Golf Course in Tueson, Arizona. Simi is the first Indian women golfer to qualify for this highest-grade ladies Tour.
Zimbabwe bowlers have Pak in a tizzy
Pakistan, in reply to Zimbabwe's first innings total of 321, were bowled out for 256 on the third day of the opening Test at Queens Sports Club yesterday. Seamer Mpumelelo Mbangwa and leg-spinner Paul Strang each snapped up two wickets as Zimbabwe had Pakistan sruggling by lunch itself.
