  Bhupathi poised to level
It wasn't exactly a massacre of the innocents on the red clay courts at the Beppe Croce Club. It assumed dimensions of a well-fought Davis Cup tennis rubber, when Prahlad Srinath fell, but not as meekly as it was supposed to be. Then, Mahesh Bhupathi nearly levelled the issue before rains stopped play.
Australia keep heads to pull off victory
Despite a gritty century from skipper Alistair Campbell, Australia did enough to beat Zimbabwe and the heat and take two important points from the match in Ahmedabad. Their improved performance stemmed from the selection of a better balanced side, dropping a batsman and including off-spinner Gavin Robertson.

Wisden urges ICC probe on rigging
Wisden, the annually published cricketing almanac -- the cricketing bible to many -- has called on the Cricket's international governing body to conduct an investigation into allegations of gambling and match fixing. Matthew Engel, Editor of Wisden, who has ruffled feathers in the cricket establishment before suggests that an emphasis on "meaningless" One-day internationals and an International Cricket Council which puts the stress on quantity rather than quality are the main challenges facing the game.
Manohar packs off Bengal
An incredible eight leg before decisions in the second innings, including four on the fifth and final day of this quarter-final match, spelt Bengal's doom at the Gymkhana In Hyderabad yesterday. Hyderabad romped home by 44 runs to cruise into the semi-finals of the Ranji Trophy cricket championship after a gap of two years. The unlikely bowling hero was Daniel Manohar, who found nip and pace, to capture four wickets.

The innovative training sessions today equipped the participants with newer techniques in the swing and long distance shots and provided insights into the Leadbetter philosophy.
Haryana crash to innings defeat
Though Ashish Winston Zaidi heaped a rich haul of four wickets, it was Ubaid Kamal's crucial double blow in the morning which put paid to Haryana's aspirations of warding off defeat at the hands of hosts Uttar Pradesh on the final day of the Ranji Trophy quarter-final at the OEF ground in Kanpur ground yesterday. Kamal extracted life out of a placid track to first have Haryana skipper Vijay Yadav and Zaidi followed suit to hasten an ignominous innings and 57-run defeat for Haryana.
