  Badal hopes for fair deal from Vajpayee
Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has stated that the state is expecting a fair deal from Prime Minister A B Vajpayee. He added that his Government will prepare a detailed note, listing the various economic and political issues to be discussed with the prime minister at a formal meeting.

Winds of change are blowing through the Bharatiya Janata Party's Rajasthan unit. The new opening-up is in reaction to the feedback the leadership has been receiving from some of the younger members of the party. On a few occasions, junior functionaries went so far as to let off steam in front of senior ministers. Some of these malcontents are still not hopeful of any improvement and a section of the younger leaders is even questioning the leadership of Chief Minister Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

The lure of political power seems to have affected the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) search for leaders of adequate stature and experience to man various organisational posts at the national level. With less than a month to go before its new president takes charge, the party finds itself in a quandary.
Dismiss Rabri Govt in a month, demands SP
The Samata Party (SP) has urged Prime Minister A B Vajpayee to dismiss the Rabri Devi Government in Bihar by next month, suggesting that the Centre should not feel shy of using Article 356. Party secretary general Shivanand Tiwari stated that they would insist on sacking of the RJD regime after they submitted a charge-sheet against the Government to the Prime Minister and the President by April 20.
