  Fulfilling last wishes, celebrity style
To help make someone's wish come true celebrities will meet for an expensive charity dinner at Turf Club on Wednesday. The event organised by the Indian chapter of Make-a-Wish Foundation will also mark the international make-a-wish day. The plan was unveiled at a press conference attended by some of the leading lights of entertainment world on Wednesday.
  1958: Year that was
This was a year of marriages in Bollywood. Nargis and Sunil Dutt tied the knot on March 11 and Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendall got married on July 2, 1958. On the flip side, the founder of Kohinoor Studio's Dwarkadas N Sampat passed away. Character artiste Yakub also died in the same year. Bimal Roy had his first commercial success this year with Madhumati.

Hrishikesh Mukherjee started his career with New Theatres, in 1945, as a laboratory assistant. He graduated in Science, with a distinction, from Calcutta University. He then moved on to edit Tathapi (Bengali), his first independent assignment as editor, in 1947-48. In 1951, Mukherjee came to Bombay with his mentor, the late Bimal Roy. He edited all of Roy's films till Madhumati.

Then someone said Salman Khan -- who had been signed -- was walking out since he had committed his dates to Hum Saath Saath Hain.

Remember Tarzan's New York Adventure? It dealt with the jungle boy's (and who better than Johnny Weissmuller as Tarzan?) exploits in the big city. George of the Jungle hints at something of the sort. But our new jungle boy has to hasten back to the wilderness to protect his `old pals' -- his trusted elephant Shep, his wise ape and his bird Tokie-Tokie.
Stars on holiday
Jackie Shroff -- "Goa and Matheran are my ideal holiday spots. Why? Because the beaches, the people and the pollution-free atmosphere of Goa remind me of old Mumbai. I am planning a trip to Goa by the end of April. And will make a trip to Matheran during the monsoons."
