  Shut up or get out, Jaya tells Hegde
The corridors of power have become a war zone, with missiles flying thick and fast between the AIADMK front and other allies in the BJP-led coalition. On Thursday, three AIADMK ministers demanded action against Commerce Minister Ramakrishna Hegde for attacking J Jayalalitha. Prime Minister A B Vajpayee should advise Hegde to "either shut up or get out", they said in a vituperative statement.
  Govt to dump soft-on-Pak Gujral doctrine
The government is formulating a major foreign policy shift on India's neighbourhood, effectively dumping former prime minister I K Gujral's soft, public posture on Pakistan and moving towards firmer ties with the other, smaller states. The Prime Minister's Office, referring to Pakistan, said "there would be no more unilateralism" in India's foreign policy, adding, however, that "for the other SAARC nations reciprocity need not be in equal measure."

AIADMK advocates appointed as Govt counsel
The Central Government has cleared the appointment of 32 advocates, mostly belonging to the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), as additional Central Government standing counsel.
Digvijay blamed for Cong fiasco in MP
Congress Chief Minister Digvijay Singh has been held largely responsible for the party's poor showing in the Lok Sabha elections in Madhya Pradesh by the AICC panel headed by Rajesh Pilot. The review reports on Madhya Pradesh by Pilot and Uttar Pradesh and Bihar by former AICC general secretary Sushil Kumar Shinde were handed over to Sonia on Wednesday.
