The firetender was on an emergency service when the mishap took place, Khadki police said. The police have filed a case against driver Pratap Singh Chauhan of Khadki.

Meanwhile, Jaypal Maruti Bansode, an eight-year-old boy from Bibvewadi who was injured in an earlier road accident, succumbed while undergoing treatment at a private hospital last night.

Jaypal was seriously injured when an autorickshaw ran over him near his house on April 27, police said. Rickshaw driver, Nitin Jagannath Shelar (26) of Bibvewadi, has been arrested by Swargate police.
