  Bodo militants slay 13 Santhals
Thirteen Santhal bus passengers were gunned down by Bodo militants at Bismuri in Kokrajhar district in Assam today in an apparent retaliation to the killing of four Bodos by the Santhals in Bongaigaon district last week. Four others were injured.
  Tanker-truck mishap claims 11 in Belapur
In a major accident, eleven persons including two women and a two-and-half-year old girl died instantaneously when a tanker carrying naphtha and a truck collided at CBD Belapur on the Sion-Panvel highway late last night.

Govt okays Agni's upgradation
India's defence scientists have been given the green signal to work on the second phase of the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Agni, Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO) sources said.Stating that the government has approved the next phase of the programme, the sources said ``we are going to increase the range of the Agni missiles.
CBI may get nod to prosecute Laloo in fodder scam case
After waiting for eight months, the CBI is likely to get the Governor's sanction in a few days to prosecute former Bihar chief minister Laloo Prasad Yadav and others in a fodder scam case (RC 64). Laloo Prasad Yadav was earlier prosecuted in another fodder scam case (RC 20).

China is enemy no 1: George
Defence Minister George Fernandes has declared China as India's ``potential threat number one'' and said the country was encircled by Chinese military and naval activity. Expressing concern, he called for ``tough decisions'' to counter the potential threat from China, saying that though diplomatic talks with China were in progress, ``we should be prepared for any eventuality''.
Party adopts Keshubhai Patel's parivartan as new theme song
Even as dissidents are believed to be regrouping against chief minister Keshubhai Patel, the BJP leadership has adopted his parivartan theme and taken it to the national stage. Patel's election theme song had been adopted by outgoing president LK Advani in his "New BJP" speech in Delhi and now in Gandhinagar the national council has adopted it.
