Epic play completes 400 shows
Some of theatre's recent big-budget mega-productions like Lillete Dubey's Jaya and Aamir Raza Husain's Saare Jahan Se Achcha have flopped miserably notwithstanding their claims to epic scale and technology savvy, but Babasaheb Purandare's mega-play Jaanta Raja, set to hold its 400th performance at the Subash Maidan in Kalyan on Momday, continues to be a scintillating success.

Pak pen pals to cross the border of hatred
They are not artistes nor sportsmen and should have no problem when they arrive here from Pakistan. At least that's what everyone connected with the trip is hoping. Fifteen children of the "Centre for Advanced Studies", a Karachi school, will call on their friends from the Bombay International School sometime in August this year.

1983 World Cup, heroes bring cheer again
June 25, 1983. It's a month, day and year that is indelibly etched in the memory of every Indian who was fortunate to see India beat the West Indies in the sensational Prudential World Cup final at the hallowed turf of Lord's. Memories of that day -- one of India's greatest sporting moments -- came flooding back into the mind at a function last night when a video recording of the match was shown amidst the very men who made it all possible.

It was the turn of serious, old RSS die-hards to say, `Oh, what a movie!'. At a special screening of Titanic at an Ahmedabad cinema hall, Rajshri, BJP delegates poured in to see the James Cameron classic about a sinking ship. Some of them had not seen a movie for almost 25 years. It may have come as a culture shock if the last movie you had seen had Meena Kumari singing love duets with Raj Kumar without actually coming within 20 feet of each other.
