  BJP clamours for reshuffle pie
Chief Minister Manohar Joshi's statement that he will go in for a Cabinet reshuffle by Saturday has sparked off wrangling within the Sena-BJP alliance for key portfolios with Deputy Chief Minister Gopinath Munde saying that a high-level delegation of his party will call on Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Thursday to resolve the pending grievances.
  Bofors paid commission worth $ 30 m, says CBI
The CBI yesterday informed the Delhi high court that Bofors paid 30 million dollars as commission to clinch the 155 mm howitzer gun deal. Ottavio Quattrocchi received at least 7.34 million dollars from it through his front company A E services, the CBI said.

Probe into Pak nuke chief's offer to Iraq
The father of Pakistan's nuclear and missile programme is in trouble again. Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, the Bhopal-born metallurgist whose audacious feats have made Pakistan the latest entrant to the ballistic nuclear missile club, is being investigated by the International Atomic Energy Agency as to whether he offered Iraq plans for nuclear weapons.
Assam strife claims three more lives
Two Bodos and a Santhal were killed, 93 houses set ablaze and a convoy of a senior police officer was attacked in continuing ethnic violence in Assam's trouble-torn Kokrajhar district yesterday. Members of rival tribal communities set afire 93 houses -- 82 belonging to Bodos and 11 to Santhals -- at Bangaldoba village.

Panel moots ARC to tackle mounting NPA
Concerned over the rising level of non-performing assets (NPAs) -- or defaulted loans -- of commercial banks, the Narasimham Committee has recommended the setting up of an asset reconstruction company (ARC) for banks with high NPA portfolios.
HC judge indicted for change in judgement
The Supreme Court has indicted a Calcutta High Court judge for "rewriting his own overruled judgement". Justice Ahmad, who wrote the judgement for the bench, prefaced it by saying "Whether judicial obstinacy can be treated as a form of bias is the question which we intend to answer in these appeals."
