  China reeling under Hollywood films on Tibet
Another film about Tibet, has earned the ire of Chinese officials who call it an attempt to "deceive" world audiences on the situation in the Himalayan land. The new film, Windhorse, is the third Hollywood production about Tibet to hit movie screens and the officials are of the opinion that these films will not help Americans to develop a "fair understanding" of Tibet and has therefore demanded its withdrawal.
  Clone a panda to save a panda
China scientists have launched ambitious research aimed at cloning the giant Panda as a means of saving extremely endangered species. Six full-time scientists and four post-doctoral students are working on the project, which is led by Chen Dayuan. The group had successfully bred Panda body cells as part of foundation-building preliminary research.

Gates logs in to record painting purchase
Bill (William) Gates, chairman of Microsoft Corporation, recently purchased an original seascape by American painter Winslow Homer for $ 30 million, a record for a painting by a US artist. Gates has amassed an impressive collection of art, including Leonardo da Vinci's Codex Leicester manuscript, for which he paid $ 30.8 million.
Sonia urges youth to energise party
Congress president Sonia Gandhi has stressed the need to involve the youth in strengthening the party, pointing out that she had already made a small beginning towards restructuring the party. Sonia also emphasised that young men and women should be given more scope in party affairs and to reach out to the people.
