  Cong hopes to come out with official line on tests after meet
A divided Congress goes into a crucial CWC meeting today hoping that party president Sonia Gandhi comes with a line which the Congress can take on the issue of the nuclear explosions which have rocked the party. The issue has exposed the party's divisions with at least two views emerging on the subject.
  UF to oppose TDP; to contest lone AP seat
The United Front has decided to oppose TDP, BJP and Congress in the June 3 by-elections for four assembly seats in Andhra Pradesh. The UF has also decided to contest one seat while extending support to independents in other three constituencies. This is the first time that the Left parties would be contesting on their own after snapping their alliance with the Telugu Desam.

Patnaik, Biswal row over portfolio issue
Differences of opinion between Chief Minister J B Patnaik and Orissa Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Hemananda Biswal seem to have cropped up over the issue of reallocation of portfolios of the ministers. The PCC chief is reportedly unhappy over the manner in which the Chief Minister avoided a reshuffle of portfolios among his ministers.
Clamp emergency to sack DMK Govt: AIADMK leader
The Tamil Nadu Assembly on Tuesday witnessed a spirited debate on the dismissal of State governments with Tamil Nadu Law Minister Aladi Aruna maintaining that the Centre will have to get Parliamentary approval within two months of invoking Article 356 against any regime. To this, AIADMK floor leader R Tamaraikani retorted that Article 352 could be used instead.

SJP raps CM for remarks against farmers
The Samajwadi Janata Party (SJP) in Nagpur has condemned Chief Minister Manohar Joshi for his remarks that Vidarbha farmers, who committed suicide, were all drunkards. The Chief Minister not only refused to release compensation amount to the families of poor farmers hit hard by crop failure but also went to the extent of insulting them, alleged city SJP chief Anil Gote.
Kirtikar blames poll losses on DIPR
Maharashtra's minister for Information and Public Relations Gajanan Kirtikar has blamed the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) for the ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance's defeat in the recent Lok Sabha elections. Kirtikar alleged that the DIPR had not given the State Government sufficient publicity "for the good work it has done".
