  PM takes tests to Opposition
Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee yesterday turned his attention towards rallying support to meet the challenge of economic sanctions and create a consensus on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty. In a day of meetings with Opposition leaders, he assured them that the Government would not take a stand on the CTBT without consulting them.
  Pawar plan to wrest RS, LC seats

State to declare policy for power from waste soon
The Maharashtra state government is expected to soon announce a policy on power generation from waste aimed at attracting private firms to the sector. The Energy Department has already drafted the policy which is under consideration by the state Cabinet. Its approval would signal the first attempt by any state to formulate a policy on electricity generation from waste.
Cong seeks Sonia support for Vidarbha
Congress leaders from Vidarbha region have sought the support of party president Sonia Gandhi for restoration of statehood to Vidarbha and also for formation of a separate Vidarbha Pradesh Congress Committee.
