  BJP criticises China for arming Pakistan
The Bharatiya Janata Party has lashed out at China for providing military help to the country's neighbours, specifically Pakistan. Party vice-president Jana Krishnamurthi said that India was not seeking hegemony, as suggested by China.
  Kanchi, Dwaraka seers hail nuke tests
The Sankaracharya of Kanchi Mahakoti Peetham, Jagadguru Jayendra, and Jagadguru Sankaracharya of Dwarkapeetham Swami Swaroopanand have expressed satisfaction over the successful nuclear testing at Pokhran. Kanchi Sankaracharya told newspersons that it was the success of India's scientific and technological research.

Dream missile on the horizon: Kalam
India is trying to develop a nuke warhead compatible long-range missile that can be used again and again for as many as 100 times. According to A P J Abdul Kalam, chief of the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO), the design of the reusable missile is in the conceptual stage.
Pak firing kills school girl in J-K
Pakistani troops on Friday opened heavy fire on several Indian positions and civilian areas along Line of Control in Poonch sector, killing a school girl. Pakistani troops targeted several border out posts and some civilian areas from their light and medium weaponry in Norrkot and Balakot areas of Poonch sector without any provocation.

US curbs will not hit State, says Shivankar
The economic sanctions imposed by US and Japan following India's nuclear tests will not have any adverse impact on the foreign investment proposals and World Bank loans scheduled for Maharashtra, State Finance Minister Mahadevrao Shivankar has assured.
