Swamy for CBI probe into blasts
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHENNAI, May 24: Janata Party president Subramanian Swamy on Sunday demanded that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the CBI be constituted to probe into the circumstances that led to the February 14 serial bomb blasts in Coimbatore which claimed nearly 60 lives.Talking to mediapersons, Swamy charged that the DMK government had failed to act in time to prevent the blasts because it ignored the Centre's intelligence reports. Reiterating his demand for the dismissal of the DMK government under Article 356 of the Constitution, he said AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha should give an ultimatum to the Vajpayee Government that if the DMK Government is not dismissed before June 1, the AIADMK and its allies support will be withdrawn. ``If the DMK regime does not go, the BJP government will have to.'' Swamy alleged that the BJP and the DMK have entered into a secret pact of supporting each other in the event of withdrawal of AIADMK support. ``BJP is trying to compensate for the 27 MPs the AIADMK and itsallies have,'' he said adding that the BJP is only an RSS front as the latter takes all decisions.
