Pakistan drags Kashmir to nuclear front burner
Using the nuclear tests in the sub-continent as the alarm, Pakistan has succeeded in forcing the Kashmir issue on to the international agenda, saying there can be no peace and security in South Asia until this core issue is addressed. Islamabad's intransigence in making the nuclear talks hostage to the Kashmir issue has yielded some results. The Kashmir issue figures in the agenda for the meeting of foreign ministers from the permanent five countries in Geneva on Thursday.

Clinton curbs imports from EU to aid domestic wheat gluten industry
The United States, in another farm trade spat with the European Union, will restrict imports of a key baking ingredient to give domestic producers time to become more profitable. President Clinton set the three-year quota on wheat gluten imports in response to an earlier US International Trade Commission finding that a surge in imports -- mainly from the EU -- had seriously harmed domestic producers.

`Unique test' of Ghauri in offing, says The Nation
Pakistan is preparing for a ``unique test'' of its intermediate range Ghauri missile to judge its capability to deliver nuclear warheads up to the targets. The Nation newspaper claimed that the test would be conducted some time this month and services of a satellite would be hired to record its effects.
