BARC hacking: Experts sceptical
At least two other hacker groups claim to have penetrated BARC's network computers and threatened to infiltrate Pakistan's nuclear establishment, even as experts in Mumbai warned against exaggerated assertions by the online pirates. What happened to the BARC site, Internet experts say, is not at all unusual. Several sensitive sites, including those of the Pentagon, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and the Office of the CIA Director have been hacked.

Hyderabad violence claims four lives
Four persons died while at least 40 others were injured on Saturday as violence rocked the old city of Hyderabad for the second consecutive day forcing the authorities to clamp curfew in 13 police station limits. Trouble started when unruly mobs attacked passers-by and torched public and private vehicles following the circulation of a mischievous pamphlet lampooning the religious sentiments of a particular community.

STF rescues hostages from Veerappan
The joint Special Task Force (STF) of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka on Friday successfully rescued the three persons -- Krishnasamy, Payum Puli, a reporter, and videographer Mohan Richard -- held hostage by forest brigand Veerappan for more than 10 days, after a brief exchange of fire with the bandit's associates. The three along with Netrikkan editor A S Mani had ventured into the forest to meet Veerappan and get an interview from him but the latter detained three of them.
