CALCUTTA:
Bengal Mumbai Football Club (BMFC) went down 1-3 to East Bengal (EB) in a Group B league match of the McDowell Cup tournament at the Salt Lake Stadium on Tuesday. EB got their first goal in the 33rd minute through Dipendu Biswas Five minutes later, Biswas added the second.

BMFC got one back in the 50th minute when Emeka Achilefu converted a spot-kick. East Bengal got their third in the 82nd minute through substitute Saroj Das.

Ajit in semis

HYDERABAD: Ajit Wijitilek upset fourth seed Sachin Ratti of Indian Railways 17-15, 12-15, 15-11 and moved into the semi-finals of the men's singles in the second leg of the Indian Grand Prix badminton tournament.

Top seed Nikhil Kanitkar, Abhinn Shyam Gupta and second seed Srikant Bakshi moved into the last four round of the tourney. Kanetkar defeated Parag Modi 15-7, 15-2 while Gupta beat Devinder Dhillon 15-12, 13-15, 15-12 and Bakshi defeated Sushant Saxena 15-11, 15-8.
