Lanka mum on Jaya demands
Sri Lankan government declined yesterday to comment on the demand made by AIADMK and its allies to the Indian government to press for withdrawal of Lankan troops from Tamil-dominated areas of the island nation. The AIADMK and its allies were also understood to have urged Prime Minister A B Behari Vajpayee to depute a parliamentary delegation to the island nation to assess the situation.

Death ends Nivedita's yearning for extremes
The circumstances which led to Kannada film actress Nivedita Jain's death are enveloped in mystery with doubts being raised about the manner in which she fell from the roof of her house in Rajarajeshwarinagar on May 17. Her family however claims Nivedita was "full of beans" and not one to commit suicide.

BMC counts 155 dilapidated buildings
A survey by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has pegged the number of buildings in a dilapidated state in Mumbai at 155. The list of the buildings released by the municipal corporation refers only to cess and non-cess buildings and those which have been acquired by the BMC over a period of time.
