Central team will check Bihar facts
The Centre has decided to send a fact-finding team to Bihar even as it awaited Governor Sunder Singh Bhandari's report on the law and order situation in the state. The governor is expected to file his report soon. The modalities of sending a team are yet to be finalised but Home Ministry officials have begun working on the "ground-level" situation in Bihar.

Russian N-deal to test US sanctions
In the face of US economic sanctions against India's nuclear tests, Moscow and New Delhi will sign a "supplement" to the 1988 agreement to build two civilian nuclear power plants in Tamil Nadu. As Washington attempts to force a grand international coalition against India on imposing coercive measures, government sources said the Russia-India deal will have the effect of breaking the "perceived isolation" of this country.

Now Raje to clarify nuclear stand to South-East Asia
First it was Brajesh Mishra, then Jaswant Singh, the PM's de facto foreign ministers, who toured the world explaining the rationale for India's nuclear tests. Now its the turn of Minister of State for External Affairs Vasundhara Raje to wow South-East Asia, as part of the government's continuing effort to win itself propaganda points. Raje will be visiting Singapore, Vietnam and the Philippines to reaffirm India's intention to participate actively in the Asean Regional Forum (ARF) security organisation and convince the region about New Delhi's interest in assisting it to overcome its financial crisis.
