BJP may finally back Kalmadi
After a week of indecisiveness, now it seems BJP will throw its weight behind former Congress leader Suresh Kalmadi for the June 18 biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha. A formal announcement in this regard is expected to be made today.

Rajasthan Muslim minister quits
Rajasthan Minister of State for Industries Nasru Khan, the sole Muslim in the Bhairon Singh Shekhawat ministry, tendered his resignation yesterday. Efforts are, however, on to persuade Khan to withdraw his resignation. The task has been assigned to Cooperative Minister Sujan Singh Yadav.

Ayodhya, Shah Bano cases not similar: Cong
The Congress has questioned the Bharatiya Janata Party's controversial statement on enacting a legislation to facilitate the construction of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, saying the BJP must not link this with the Shah Bano case. "The two cases are not similar in nature," party spokesperson Salman Khursheed said, reacting to BJP vice president K L Sharma's statement yesterday that the BJP-led Government would enact a legislation to clear the decks for the Ram temple in case the Supreme Court went against the construction at the site.
