Cross-voting spectre haunts parties: RS polls
All political parties in the state will go into the elections of the Rajya Sabha and Council with fear of cross voting hanging thick in the air. The official candidates of all the parties are expected to make it with ease, but this time they have staked their reputations on the victory of friendly Independent candidates.

Bigwigs likely to sail through
Most of the heavyweights are likely to sail through during today's biennial polls for 34 Rajya Sabha seats spread over eight states. Senior BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Jaswant Singh, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Kanshi Ram and Rajya Sabha Deputy chairperson Najma Heptullah are among the aspirants for Upper House berths.

Cong goes to training camp after 24 years
For only the second time in its 113 years, the Congress will hold a training camp in Madhya Pradesh in the first week of September where the top party leadership is expected to decide on a host of issues including the party's future line. The decision to hold such a camp was taken in the Congress Working Committee's (CWC) extended meeting last month.
