Partial endorsement of NPT not acceptable -- UK
Britain has said permanent members of the United Nations (UN) Security Council as well as the Group of Eight (G-8) industrialised nations would not accept any selective signing of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty by India. British Minister of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Office Derek Fatchett said the Security Council members were already involved in pulling back India and Pakistan from nuclear weaponisation.

Manhunt on for ultras behind Doda massacre
The Army yesterday scoured terrains and dense forests to capture the militants who killed 25 people at Chapnari even as a general strike called to protest the massacre crippled normal life here and in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir. More than seven columns of troops spearheaded a massive combing operation to flush out the militants, believed to be hiding in the jungles around Chapnari.

China may agree to ban on missile export -- US
Next week's meeting between US President Bill Clinton and Chinese President Jiang Zemin may produce a Chinese commitment to stop exporting missile technology and parts to countries like Iran and Pakistan, a senior administration official has said. Progress also is expected on halting the spread of chemical and biological weapons.
