Pak may be kept out of ARF summit
The rather belated diplomatic offensive launched by India to counter the flak it has received for its recent nuclear tests appears to have had at least one positive fallout.

No bid to force mediation on J&K -- US
The United States has made it clear that it does not want to force an acceptance of outside involvement in solving the Kashmir issue, including a proposed mediation by former President Jimmy Carter. The idea was suggested in the legislation proposed by Congressmen Dana Rohrabacher and Moran urging President Bill Clinton to appoint Carter or any other person of international stature, to go to India and Pakistan and find an end to Kashmir problem.

No tests in near future -- Sharif
Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said yesterday that Islamabad had no intention to conduct more atomic tests in the near future but vowed his country would never sacrifice national security despite international outrage over the nuclear blasts. In a related move, a Washington-based non-governmental think-tank has said Pakistan could be hiding chemical weapons just as it did in the case of nuclear weapons.
