J&K police stumble upon novel ISI infiltration strategy
When the Jammu and Kashmir Police laid its hands on Mohammad Tariq, a resident of the remote Dhimsa village in the border Poonch district, little did it know that it was taking the lid off a new strategy of Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), to ensure safe passage to foreign mercenaries from across the border up to their hideouts in the State. The police have so far arrested four "relay guides" on the revelations of Tariq since June 17 last.

Pramod Mahajan files a case against Nikhil Wagle
BJP heavyweight Pramod Mahajan yesterday filed a criminal defamation complaint against the editor of Marathi daily eveninger Aapla Mahanagar, Nikhil Wagle, in the Esplanade Court before Judge V S Dixit. Mahajan was personally present in the court along with his lawyer last afternoon to file the case against the printer, publisher and editor of Mahanagar.

Sharma shifted to Thane Range
A major shakeup in the top echelons of the police yesterday saw 24 IPS officers being shifted throughout the state, including Mumbai's joint commissioner, crime, R S Sharma. Under fire for quite some time over the fast deteriorating crime scene in the city, Sharma, was shifted as IG, Thane Range, giving way to S Sivanandan.
