Painters cook up art
As the two teams busied themselves with the task of creating a gourmet's delight with cocktail to match in his kitchen, Casa Mexicana's chef, Sameer Miglani, looked rather nervous. It wasn't the competition that was worrying him, his concern was the final outcome of the contest - the winning dish, which was to become a part of the restaurant's menu.

Continuing its pioneering research work in the field of handmade paper technology, the Pune-based directorate of handmade paper industry is now setting its eye on the commercial exploitation of banana stem fibre in the State. The directorate has decided to propagate standardised technology for making commercial products from the banana stem fibre.

NCPA's `poor show', theatre bigwigs demand change
Hindi producer-director Dinesh Thakur, Gujarati producer Girish Desai, English theatre critic Jiten Merchant, Marathi director Chandrakant Kulkarni, Waman Kendre, Marathi playwright Prashant Dalvi, thinker Pushpa Bhave, drama critic Kamlakar Nadkarni, former assistant director, National Centre for the Perforimg Arts (NCPA), and Dr Ashok Ranade were among the large number of members belonging to the city's theatre fraternity that gathered at Dhuru Hall, Dadar, to discuss their problems regarding the NCPA.
