Bhupathi scares Moya
India number two Mahesh Bhupathi gave some anxious moments to French Open champion Carlos Moya before going down fighting in a five-set thriller in the first round of the men's singles event at the Wimbledon Tennis Championship. Bhupathi came to the verge of making history at the All England Championship when he nearly knocked out the fifth seeded Spaniard in a cliff-hanger 4-6 6-4 5-6 2-6 3-6 three-hour marathon.

Draw dashes South African hopes
South Africa failed in their last-chance bid to stay in the World Cup yesterday when they could only draw 2-2 with already eliminated Saudi Arabia. Shaun Bartlett raised South African hopes of the win they needed to have any chance of overtaking Denmark for second place in Group `C' with a sweet left-foot drive from a tight angle in the 19th minute, latching on to a long ball from the deep.

Moroccan marvel ends in tears
Morocco beat Scotland 3-0 on but their fine effort was in vain as Norway and Brazil qualified for the World Cup second round. Morocco took the lead in the 22nd minute through Salheddine Bassir against the flow of play then stunned the Scots with a second goal two minutes after half-time.
