For music's sake
EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
A valedictory function of the Inservice Course of music teachers was held on June 21 at the Kendriya Vidyalaya on Ganeshkhind road. This was a culmination of the musical festival cum course that was conducted by the Kendriya Vidyalaya from June 1 to 21. Attended by 25 participants from Kendriya Vidyalayas all over India, the course was designed to impart better skills to the music teachers and give a boost to the cultural education of the kids from the Kendriya Vidyalayas. Dr Mohan Agashe, the chief guest at the function, exhorted the teachers to continue with their noble tradition.According to him, ``The talents that we appreciate in small children are later criticised when they want to take up the performing arts as a career. It is a pity that even the KVs have music classes only till Std VIII.'' This, coming from a man who has dedicated his life to the performing arts, was a huge encouragement for those who are contemplating a life in the performing arts.
