Pineda heads Argentina to the top
Hector Pineda's first goal for his country gave Argentina a 1-0 win over Croatia today, and earned them first place in World Cup Group `H'. Pineda ran into the box in the 36th minute and headed down a through pass from Ariel Ortega before slamming the ball past Drazen Ladic with his next touch.

Bierhoff, Klinsmann put Germany through
A two-goal burst early in the second half by strike pair Oliver Bierhoff and Juergen Klinsmann was enough for Germany to beat Iran 2-0 and set up a World Cup second round meeting with Mexico. The three-time champions were well below their best, particularly in a pedestrian first half, but a hammer header by Bierhoff and a typical piece of opportunism by Klinsmann helped them top Group F with seven points, ahead of Yugoslavia.

Zvereva ends Graf's aspirations
Seven-times champion Steffi Graf was knocked out of the third round of Wimbledon today by Natasha Zvereva -- the Belarussian's first victory over Graf in 18 matches. Graf, ranked 91 but with a protected seeding of four, fell 6-4 7-5 under grey skies on Centre Court.
