A jet-setter hits turbulence
The Lok Sabha election results from Orissa have just come in. Biju Patnaik's son, Naveen, has scored a stunning victory over his father's old rival, J.B. Patnaik, by winning 16 of the 21 seats in the state for the recently created Biju Janata Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party alliance. A worthy heir to the man who was worshipped as Kalinga Samrat in Orissa.

Oil exploring goes pvt as targets imcrease
The production of oil may be behind target, but the Government is confident that the more oil can be produced. It has raised its estimates of oil production for the 9th Plan period. Oil production during the terminal year of the Plan, 2001-02, has now been pegged at around 40 million tonnes as against the earlier target of 37 million, fixed just a few months ago -- most of this increase is to come from ONGC.

Jaya, Jaya, hai!
In this country of 9,50,0000 people, there at least 9,49,9999 people (every citizen apart from Jayalalitha herself, of course) who are anxious to learn why the lady behaves as she does. Why does this one woman, who has singlehandedly brought about the epidemic of gastric ulcers, insomnia and hypertension currently raging in the Capital, continue to defy the rules of logic and conduct?
