Thieves strike

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
PUNE, July 8: Booty totally estimated to be worth over Rs 29,000 was taken in two separate thefts reported to the police from various parts of Pune on Tuesday.

Jyoti Mukul Dobhal, a woman working with a reputed pager company operating from Pune Cantonment area, was yesterday relieved of her handbag containing booty estimated to be worth over Rs 20,000.

A complaint lodged with the Cantonment police said that an unidentified thief stole Jyoti's purse from her office on Tuesday afternoon. Besides some cash, the stolen purse also contained two pagers and Jyoti's jewelry, police said.

Furniture estimated to be worth Rs 9,000 was stolen from the godown of the Vaibhav Furniture shop which was found burgled in Deccan Gymkhana on Tuesday morning.
