No cuts in quota for women, says Prime Minister

NEW DELHI, July 9: Prime Minister A B Vajpayee today rejected the demand of some Opposition parties for lowering the proposed 33 per cent reservation quota for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies and said a bill providing for women's quota would be introduced in the current Parliament session .

``We are not in favour of lowering the proposed 33 per cent quota for women,'' Vajpayee assured when women members raised the issue during the zero hour. Vajpayee said a meeting of all political parties has been convened tomorrow by the government to elicit their views on the issue.
