Bank of India rally to stun Mahindras

MUMBAI, July 9: Bank of India thrashed Mahindras 3-1 in a Gulf Lubricants Super Division WIFA football league at Cooperage today.

Mahindras took early lead in the 5th minute when captain Sushanta Majumdar converted the spot-kick.

BoI came back strongly and equalised in the 20th minute when Satish ME scored a field goal. Striker A Karmugulan put BoI ahead in the beginning of second-half. Five minutes before the final whistle substitute Basir Hussain sealed the win for Bankmen.

Entrants chess

Bombay Chess Association will conduct the Entrant's Division chess tournament from July 21 onwards at the Zandu Pharmaceutical Works Canteen, Sayani Road, Off Elphinston Road.

Players can register with the Association office in Zandu Canteen on or before July 20 (except Saturdays and Sundays) between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. Entry fee is Rs 60.

The top 10 players from this nine round Swiss-League event will be promoted to Senior Division on a permanent bass.

Juhu-Parle TT

The Maharashtra StateRanking table tennis tournament will be held at the Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana Club from July 22 to July 26.

Entries will be accepted at the Club's office on July 19 upto 4.30 p.m. The draw will take place an hour later.

Matunga Gym TT

The Matunga Gymkhana State Ranking table tennis tournament, sponsored by the Bank of India, will be held from July 19 to July 23.

Entry forms are available at the Gymkhana and entries will be accepted till 6 p.m., July 16.

WIFA camp

The Western India Football Association will conduct a coaching camp for the selection of the Maharashtra State women's football team at the St Xavier's Ground, Parel from July 20 onwards.

The team will participate in the women's Federation Cup in West Bengal in the first week of August.

Those interested should report to Surendra Karkera at 7 a.m. at St Xavier's Ground on July 20.
