NEW DELHI, July 9: Ten Congress MLAs from Maharashtra, known supporters of Sharad Pawar, who had been served show cause notices following the controversy over the recent Legislative Council elections, handed over their replies to AICC today.The MLAs jointly met the AICC general secretary Madhavrao Scindia, incharge of the party's Maharashtra affairs, and gave their replies.
Party sources said that in their identical replies, they had explained that they had merely signed on blank nomination form of MLC candidature as had been the ``normal practice,'' and were ``not aware'' of it being used for a ``non-Congress'' candidate Arun Mehta.
The sources said Scindia assured the MLAs that he would apprise party president Sonia Gandhi of their version.
The MLAs included Shankarrao Jagtap, Sahebrao Baradkar, Dilip Valse Patil, R R Patil, Khushal Bopche and Ashok Dhatrak.
