Circuit house case bothers govt

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
GANDHINAGAR, July 9: The state government has taken serious view of the recent misuse of the Ahmedabad circuit house by a senior IPS officer for allegedly enjoying the company of a woman not his wife.

Congress chief whip in Assembly Naresh Raval raised the question seeking to know the official stand on the issue. However, since ruling party members raised objections to raising the issue instantly, Roads & Buildings Minister Savji Korat told the House that he would release a detailed statement in the House in this regard on Friday.

The officer, posted in Ahmedabad, was caught red-handed by none other than his wife, who somehow got the hint of her wayward husband's escapade. She immediately rushed to circuit house along with the wife of another IPS officer. On reaching the spot, immediately on seeing the duo, she began beating up the `other woman' and later took her husband to task.

The scene caused quite a flutter to the amazement of several persons and the staff who were present there.

The woman who hails from Jamnagar is said to have come in close contact with the official when he was posted there. Even after his transfer from Jamnagar, old flames continued to fly. It was just on her visit to the city early this week that the two could not resist meeting each other at a safe place. However, the rendezvous was not to be.

This is not the first occasion when government property like circuit house is found being misused. However, it is for the first time that an episode has come to light causing immense embarrassment to the persons involved.

Many years ago at a circuit house in south-eastern Gujarat, a minister though not unfortunate enough to be caught by wife, was exposed to public scrutiny for his alleged sexual escapade resulting out of an extra-marital affair. The issue was hushed up as the episode involved the powerful minister. However, juicy details were leaked out in bits and pieces as time passed by and the glory of the minister faded.
