Case of fraud filed against travel agency `director'

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, July 9: An fir has been registered against the director of a Tours and Travel company for cheating and fraud in Kalkaji. According to the complaint, the tour operator allegedly took money from a couple and promised to get them airline tickets. However, after taking the money he vanished and has been absconding. The FIR has been registered on the basis of the complaint by Surendra Saxena, a resident of Ghaziabad.

He and Rekha Saxena had reportedly approached K.B.S. Tours and travels, on the basis of an advertisement and had met Naresh Kumar Malhotra who claimed to be a director. They had allegedly paid a total sum of Rs 1.16 lakh to the travel agency to book overseas air tickets, foreign exchange and rail passes. They were also charged a substantial sum for service charges. They had also given the company their passports affixed with a visa.

They had wanted tickets for June 23 but after assurances from the company they could not obtain the tickets in the end. They were assured tickets for June 26 but by the evening of June 25 had still not got the tickets. On the morning of June 26 they went to the police after they found that the offices of the company were locked. That morning Naresh Malhotra had called Saxena promising to deliver the tickets within a few days but reportedly did not turn up at the police station when asked to do so.

A case of cheating has been registered. According to ACP Kalkaji, a search has been launched for Malhotra.
