Man stabbed to death
A 40-year-old man was stabbed by four or five unidentified assailants who reportedly barged into her Seelampur house this morning. Sita Ram Aggarwal was stabbed a number of times and the assailants fled the spot. Aggarwal was rushed to St Stephen's hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at around 10.30 a.m.. Seelampur police have registered a case of murder. Further investigations are in progress to trace the assailants. On hearing the news of his death, some residents of the locality gathered on the Seelampur main road to demand that police take immediate action. Traffic on the route was disrupted for a while.Four killed in road accident
Four persons were killed in an accident at Hapur in district Ghaziabad. A tempo carrying passengers collided with a truck near Hapur Dehat police station leaving three women and a girl dead.
Minor fire at police HQ
A minor fire broke out at the police headquarters located at the ITO crossing on Thursday morning. No casualties have been reported so far. According to the fire officials, the blaze was caused by a short circuit in an air-conditioner. Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot. The fire was reportedly brought under control in about 15 minutes. This was the second minor fire reported from the police HQ this summer.
25-yr-old woman attempts suicide
A 25-year-old woman, reportedly depressed over her husband's terminal illness, attempted suicide on Wednesday in the Delhi Cantonment area. At around 7.30 p.m., Champa doused herself with kerosene and set herself afire. She was rushed to the Safdarjung hospital. She has received 90 per cent burn injuries. According to doctors, her condition is critical. Though no suicide notes have been recovered, police believe that her husband's illness might have been the cause of the attempted suicide. Champa got married to Deepak in 1996.
Woman raped
A woman in her mid-twenties was allegedly raped by a TSR driver near Anand Vihar on Wednesday. According to the police, the victim had come to the Anand Vihar bus terminal from Pithoragarh. On Wednesday morning, she hired a TSR to go to Kashmere Gate ISBT. Instead of taking her to the bus terminal, the driver Moinudin Saif took her to a tent-house and raped her. The victim reported the incident to the Anand Vihar police. A medical examination of the victim confirmed rape. A case has been registered and the accused arrested.
Dacoity averted
The central district police claim to have averted a dacoity with the arrest of three of the accused who were planning the dacoity around midnight on July 6. A police team was patrolling the Capital's infamous G.B. road area in Central Delhi when an informer told them that five persons sitting behind kotha no 54 were planning a dacoity. The place was raided about 1.10 a.m and three of them were arrested. Amongst the accused are Abdul Usman, a resident of Jama Masjid area, Ansur Rehman, a resident of Chandni Mahal and Lal Chand, a resident of Paharganj. The other two accused fled the spot. A case has been registered at the Chandni Mahal police station. The three accused have remanded to judicial custody.
