Appeasement policy anti-national: Dhumal

SHIMLA, July 10: Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal gave a clarion call to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad to work with more devotion and dedication for the cause which it has been struggling to achieve during the last 50 years.

The CM, who was presiding over the inaugural function of the year-long golden jubilee celebrations of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad here yesterday said that it was unfortunate that appeasement policy adopted in the country had failed to inculcate a spirit of nationalism so essential for development of any nation.

Mahesh Chander, Rajya Sabha MP, who was the chief guest said it was only the ABVP, which immediately after Independence had submitted a four-point memorandum for maintaining the Swadeshi movement, to introduce Vandey Mataram as the national song, to set up a federal form of government and to make Hindi the official language of the country.

Sadashiv Gautam Devdhar, Rashtriya Sangathan Mantri, ABVP speaking on the occasion urged ABVP to work for creating awareness of nationalism by rising above political considerations and playing a constructive role in the society.Balak Ram, president, Golden Jubilee Celebrations Committee welcoming the CM and others said that organising of blood donation camps, plantation drives, seminars, would be the highlights of the year-long celebrations in various parts of the state.

Rajeshwar Chandel, state ABVP president while thanking the Chief Minister assured him that no effort would be spared to fulfill the objectives for which the body had been set up.

Suresh Chandel, MP, Rajan Sushant, Vipan Parmar and Jai Ram all MLAs and prominent ABVP office-bearers were present on the occasion.
