Vajpayee Govt is "anti-farmer", accuses Congress president
Congress president Sonia Gandhi yesterday attacked the BJP-led government at the Centre for its "anti-farmer" policy and asserted her party, if voted to power, would accord priority to addressing farmers' problems. She accused the Vajpayee government of failing to improve irrigation facilities and expressed sympathy with the plight of farmers in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka.

Implement Cauvery order -- AIADMK
AIADMK, a constituent of the BJP-led coalition, has expressed doubts over implementation of the Cauvery water tribunal's interim order by the Centre but said it was government's duty to implement it without any further delay. AIADMK's group leader R Muthiah has urged the government to invoke Article 256 of the Constitution and give a direction to the Karnataka Government to implement the order.

WB Congress hesitant to take CPI-M support
The West Bengal unit of the Congress is reluctant about taking CPI(M) support in the event of Congress leading an alternative non-BJP government at the Centre and would like to discuss the issue, the newly appointed state Congress chief, Gani Khan Chowdhury, said yesterday.
