Saira Gulam Hussain from Ismail Yusuf College is this year's topper with 76.83 per cent in Persian. Shamim Mohammed Yakub Shaikh from the same college had to settle for a tie for second rank with 76.17 per cent (Urdu). Mukta Gajanan Joshi ranked second in Economics from Ramnarain Ruia College. Deepti Rameshkumar Goel from Ruia college and Dnyaneshwar Balkrishna Meshram from Kirti College shared the third rank, in Economics and Rural Developement respectively. Students from Burhani College, Maharashtra College, Kankavli College, and St Xaviers were among other rankers.

Mothers' names too in certificates

The Universitywill include the mother's name along with that of the father in the certificates, announced Vice-Chancellor Dr Snehalata Deshmukh at a function organised to felicitate the TYBA toppers today.

Every college will distribute convocation forms to its students from next year. This year, forms were available at Kalina and Ratnagiri sub-division and in seven colleges including Sydenham College (Churchgate), R R College (Matunga), D J Ruparel College (Matunga), Mithibai college (Vile Parle), Ram Niranjan Jhunjhunwala College (Ghatkopar), K G Joshi and N G Bedekar College (Thane) and Birla College (Kalyan).

The varsity is also considering distribution of revaluation forms in every college. The varsity's coaching classes for the second batch of UPSC aspirants will commence soon at Kalina. These classes, organised by the Civics and Political Science department, is for the students belonging to weaker sections among educationally backward communities like Muslims, Christians, neo Buddhists and Zoroastrians.
