NEW DELHI, July 16: A woman reportedly set herself and her three children on fire in Kakrola village, 5 km from Najafgarh early this morning. While Roshni, 30, and her 18-month-old son who had sustained 100 per cent burns died on the spot, Manjit, 3, died on the way to the hospital and Mamta, 6, succumbed an hour after being admitted to the Intensive Care Unit of the Safdarjung Hospital. The two had suffered 80 per cent burns. Roshni's husband, Ramesh, had accompanied the victims to the hospital.

The two had suffered 80 per cent burns. Roshni's husband, Ramesh, had accompanied the victims to the hospital.
According to DCP (west) Rajesh Malik: ``Preliminary investigations indicate that differences between Roshni and her mother-in-law may be the cause behind the suicide. Her husband used to drink regularly and the couple used to quarrel over the issue.''
Roshni was living in a joint family along with her in-laws. Police have summoned Roshni's parents from Panipat.
Roshni's mother-in-law has washed her hands off the matter. She told Express Newsline: ``The incident happened at 6, my husband and I had gone to milk our cows. My son, Ramesh, had gone to the toilet. Someone said our house was on fire. We ran back to find Roshni and the children severely burnt.''
Ramesh had reportedly suffered financial losses after which he had to shut down his grocery shop and was currently unemployed. His father's pension from the Army did not suffice and the family was living off money from selling land that they owned in the village. DCP Malik, however, said: ``There was no immediate financial crisis as the family has about Rs 8 lakh in the bank which they had obtained by selling their land.''
