PUNE, July 16: The Postal Employees Joint Action Committee, Pune district has called off its eight-day old strike following detailed talks held by their leaders in Delhi with Communications Minister Sushma Swaraj.

PUNE, July 16: The Postal Employees Joint Action Committee, Pune district has called off its eight-day old strike following detailed talks held by their leaders in Delhi with Communications Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Secretary B B Bhadake said the local leaders took this decision in accordance with the directives issued by central headquarters. When contacted, PMG V Sadasivam hoped that the employees would resume work from July 17 mentioning that it would require at least a week to clear off the pending mail. The normal traffic in Pune region is around 8 lakh articles per day. However, the overall pending mail in the region would amount to 5 lakh articles.
