INDIANAPOLIS, July 17: Jim Courier will lead off for the United States against Belgian number one Filip Dewulf in the opening singles of the US-Belgium Davis Cup quarter-final tie starting today.
Yesterday's draw arranged the second singles match between Andre Agassi against Christophe Van Garsse.
Tomorrow's doubles will pit the American duo of Todd Martin and Richey Reneberg against Belgium's team of Dewulf and Davis Cup newcomer Xavier Malisse.
In Sunday's reverse singles, the 19th-ranked Agassi will take on the 43rd-ranked Dewulf, followed by 48th-ranked Courier going against Van Garsse, ranked 159th in the world.
Adding to the usual Davis Cup suspense, all the matches represent first-time meetings between the competitors.
The US team is a strong favourite in this tie, which marks Belgium's first appearance in a Davis Cup quarter-final since the World Group concept was created in 1981.

Moya to lead Spain
CORUNA (SPAIN): Spain's Davis Cup squad will be looking for its first semifinal in 11 years when playing Switzerland this weekend. The team will be led by Carlos Moya, the world's fourth-ranked player.
Moya, the reigning champion of Roland Garros and the Montecarlo Open was drawn yesterday to face Swiss Ivo Heuberger in the first singles match today. Alex Corretja, who is ranked seventh, will play against Marc Rosset.
Moya will take on Rosset in the reverse singles on Sunday.
Spaniards Julian Alonso and Javier Sanchez-Vicario will team up in doubles tomorrow against Rosset and Lorenzo Manta of Switzerland. Switzerland advanced with a victory over Czech Republic while Spain eliminated Brazil.
The winner of the match will facethe winner of the duel between Germany and the defending champion, Sweden.
South Korea lead China
SEOUL: South Korea were leading China 2-0 after the opening singles of their Asia-Oceania Group two, second-round Davis Cup tennis tie today.
Results (Korean names first): Yoon Yong-il bt Yang Jing-zhu 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 Lee Hyung-taik bt Wang Yu-Wei 6-1, 6-2, 6-2
The doubles match will be played tomorrow and the reverse singles on Sunday.
Rittner in last eight
PALERMO: Unseeded Barbara Rittner joined Jennifer Capriati in the quarter-finals of the Palermo Grand Prix women's tennis tournament following second-round victory in straight sets against Paulina Stoyanova.
Rittner, who had upset second-seeded Sandrine Testud in the opening round, downed Stoyanova 6-4, 6-4 in the $ 107,500 competition on clay yesterday. The German player takes on Capriati today.
Capriati, trying to improve her WTA ranking currently as low as No 133, earned a quarter-final berth by defeating fifth-seededItalian Rita Grande 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 on Wednesday night. In an all-Italian second-round match, qualifier Maria Paola Zavagli downed Sandra Cecchini 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
