Three cases of robbery
Three unidentified youths robbed a gum factory owner of Rs 20,000 and his Maruti car in Jahangirpuri on Friday afternoon. The factory owner, Sandip Gupta, who lives in Trinagar, reached his factory in the Mahendra Park area of Jahangirpuri around 1 p.m., when he was accosted by the youths.

The three youths first snatched Gupta's bag containing the money and then drove away in his Maruti car. The local police do not have have any clues about the identity of the youths so far, but suspect that they could have been trailing Gupta and were aware of his routine.

In another incident, some armed men decamped with gold jewellery from a Kakrola village house in the west district early on Friday morning. The assailants attacked two of the occupants who were sleeping in the courtyard and snatched two gold chains from them. Geeta, who tried to put up a resistance when her mother and brother were attacked, was also assaulted.

In a case of road robbery, 31-year-old Mohammed Wahid was robbed of Rs 645 by four assailants near Ghonda around 9.45 p.m. on Thursday. The miscreants were armed with knives and pistols. Wahid managed to overpower one of the assailants while he was trying to escape. The latter has been identified as Mohammed Fahin, a resident of UP. A case has been registered at the Bhajanpura police station.

Tea-stall owner murdered
A tea-stall owner was murdered allegedly by a regular in Gokulpuri in northeast Delhi yesterday. The accused, Pramod, a supplier of building material in the area, reportedly quarreled with Ram Prasad, 65, when the latter asked him to settle his dues. Pramod allegedly beat Ram Prasad senseless. Pramod lifted him and put him on the cot and left the premises.

After two hours, Prasad's daughter came to the stall to find him lying dead. He was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead. Pramod is absconding and investigations are underway to trace the accused. In a separate case, the body of 38-year-old chowkidar, Ram Prasad, was recovered from Jafarpur Kalan on Thursday. A resident of Sultanpur in Uttar Pradesh, Prasad was a chowkidar at property dealer Surinder Kumar's Dhansa Road office. His body was recovered from the roof of the office. There were wounds around his neck, suggesting that a sharp weapon had been used to kill him. A case of murder has been registered but no arrests have been made so far.

23-yr-old woman's body found
The body of a 23-year-old woman was recovered from the Yamuna yesterday. She has been identified as Laxmi who was reportedly missing from her Dilshad Garden house since July 9. Preliminary investigations reveal that she was allegedly tortured by her husband and mother-in-law. Her husband, Deepak, and mother-in-law, Sharda, have been arrested under Section 498 (A) and 306 of the Indian Penal Code. Deepak had lodged a missing-person complaint on July 9. Her photographs had been pasted at all major intersections in the city and shown on TV as well. Following this, a man called up the police and said that he had seen a similar-looking woman jump into the Yamuna from the ITO bridge. A rescue operation was initiated and the body recovered yesterday. The victim's parents have alleged that both Deepak and Sharda had allegedly harassed Laxmi for dowry. The couple have a two-year-old child. An SDM enquiry has been ordered into the matter.
