Birthday boy Mandela gifts 9,000 prisoners freedom
Prisoners received a bonus gift when the South African government announced they would give convicts a special six-month remission to mark President Nelson Mandela's 80th birthday. This would result in the release of about 9,000 prisoners from next week, Correctional Services Minister in Mandela's Cabinet Sipo Mzimela said.

Nagpur's own poor man's vehicle makes it to German streets
In the golden jubilee year of Indian independence, three cycle rickshaws from Nagpur are all set to ply inside a prestigious German University to spread the message of peace, goodwill and brotherhood. The rickshaws are being exported to Germany for ferrying visitors inside the campus of the Friedensau University, Germany.

Police trains guns on intelligence now
The Mumbai police plans to emphasize on developing the criminal intelligence gathering network in the city. A special team of officers will be sent to Delhi to acquire skills in effective intelligence gathering, Police commissioner Ronald H Mendonca said on Saturday.
