State to approve part of Nashik expressway soon

NASHIK, July 19: While the State government is yet undecided over the controversial stretch of the proposed Mumbai-Nashik expressway of 17 km which would pass through the Nashik city, it is all set to okay a 128 km stretch from Majiwade (Thane) to Wadivarhe.

The government has invited suggestions and/or objections to the proposed alignment from Majiwade to Wadivarhe from the public till August 7. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board has invited public response on the environmental impact of the proposed six-lane highway. The venue for the meeting will start from August 10 at the Thane MIDC complex, Mulund check naka.

The proposed stretch from Majiwade to Wadivarhe (128 km) would pass through Mapkoliwada, Thakurwada, Sonalipada, Vadapa, Padagha, Bhokar, Kasane, Asangaon, Walshet, Shahapur, karuse, Jevpada, Birwadi, Damni, Vashala Budruk, Umerwadi, Taleshi, Kanchangaon, Khadakwadi, Umergaon, Gonde and Rajurbanula. However, the further stretch of 17 km from M Rajurbahula to Adgaon, which would passthrough Nashik city, is yet to be cleared.

On the proposed Majiwade-Wadivarhe stretch, the government has proposed toll posts at Majiwade, Mapkoliwada, Thakurpada, Shahapur, Bhagwatwada and Rajur Bahula.
