Amod Dixit surprises Harsh Chopra

NEW DELHI, July 19: Amod Dixit of Chandigarh caused a mild flutter in the men's singles fourth round in the Suzuki Open Table Tennis Tournament at the Talkatora Indoor Stadium here today when he ousted seventh seeded Harsh Chopra of Food Corporation of India. Dixit won 14-21, 21-14, 23-21.

Top seed and favourite for the title, Himansh P Kala of Central Bank of India conceded a walkover to Nikhil Wadhwa in the fourth round.

There was an upset in the boys section as well where Kushagra Gupta of Don Bosco beat third seed Mrinal Mondal 21-12, 18-21, 21-10 to move into the quarterfinals. In cadet boys singles, Luv Israni entered the quarterfinals while in sub-junior girls, Apna Bhalla of Hanbs Raj Model School (Punjabi Bagh) defeated Priyanka Luthra 21-11, 21-13 to make it to the quarter finals.
