City cops bt CRPF

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
CHANDIGARH, July 19: Chandigarh Police outplayed last year's runners--up CRPF 3--0 while Punjab trounced Railway Protection Force 5--0 in the league matches of the 47th B N Mullik Memorial All India Police football championshipaccording to information received here.

Dwander Singh (2), Patcvhidar Singh, Brandin Singh and Guldip Singh scored one each for Punjab, while P R Ganguly (2) and Bhuta Singh netted for Chandigarh.

In the other matches, Orissa prevailed over Haryana 3--0.

Pouil Singh, Suresh Kurana and Sitamahakud were the goal scorer for the winners.

In another match Special Security Bureau, New Delhi, defeated Tripura by a solitary goal netted by Harjith.

Videocon XI win
Videocon XI beat Veerbhumi Club by 37 runs while LIC Club beat Devi Club by 71 runs in the pre-quarterfinal matches of the ninth Bathany cricket here today.

Brief Scores: Videocon: 108 (Ramanjeet Singh 30, Suman 19, Umesh 3-16, Sunil 2-9, Anurag 2-20) beat Veerbhumi: 61 (Munish Worrel 34, Mandeep Sodhi 2-5, Sandeep Arora 2-14, Surinder Singh 2-2).

LIC: 197 (Akash Salhotra 59, Lalit 51, Sunil 51 n.o., Pawan 3-35, Azad 2-25) beat Devi Club: 126 (Jatinder 36, Suresh 27, Radhey Shyam 3-16, Lalit 3-9, Davinder 2-16).
