Cycling expedition to Siachen

SHIMLA, July 19: India's first cycle expedition on to Siachen -- the highest security check-post of the world, which was flagged off from Shimla tow days ago, today reached Reckong Peo - district headquarters of Kinnaur.

Five members of Jogi Sports Club Chander Shekhar (21 years), Dev Kant Prakash (24), Rajesh Jhinhta (24), Vikrant Singh Rana (21) Arun Sharma (23) would cover about 2600 km journey on cycle in 42 days.

The expedition is organised to mark the Golden Jubilee of Indian independence will spread the message of national integration. The expedition would cover Kunzum Pass (4551 mts) Baralacha Pass (4892 mts) Tanglang Pass (5360 mts), Rohtang Pass (3980 mts). Lachlangla (5065) mts and khardungla (5602 mts). The expedition would also pass through the places of Kibber (the highest inhabited village in the world), Kaza (the highest filling station in the world) Keylong, Leh, Siachen (the highest security check-post in the world) and Choglamsar (the highest golf course in the world.
